About NTA and NET June-2024 Examination

The Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) has established the National Testing Agency (NTA) as a prestigious and independent organization responsible for conducting entrance exams for admission and fellowship in higher education institutions. On 18th June 2024, the NTA will administer the National Eligibility Test (NET) on behalf of the University Grants Commission (UGC). This test will determine the eligibility of Indian nationals for the position of Assistant Professor or Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), as well as admission to Ph.D. programs in 83 different subjects for the year 2024 onwards.

The award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and eligibility for Assistant Professor is determined by the candidate's performance in both papers of the National Eligibility Test (NET) taken together. However, candidates who qualify exclusively for Assistant Professor are not eligible for the JRF. Candidates who pass the eligibility test for Assistant Professor must adhere to the recruitment rules and regulations set by the universities/colleges/state governments. NTA will be conducting the upcoming UGC NET on 18th June 2024. The test will be in the OMR (Pen & Paper) mode and will consist of two papers with 50 and 100 questions, carrying 100 and 200 marks respectively.
